This project involved the roofing installation for a ground-up custom home located in La Jolla, completed in partnership with a long-time general contractor we’ve successfully worked with on many projects over the years. The residence spans approximately 8,000 square feet and required careful planning and coordination during the construction process to ensure the roofing system was installed with precision and built for long-term performance.
For this home, we installed a two-piece clay tile roofing system in the Old Mission Blend, a classic style commonly seen on Southern California’s Mediterranean-inspired homes. Clay tile roofing is a popular choice for coastal properties because it offers natural ventilation, excellent durability, fire resistance, and a timeless architectural aesthetic that complements the surrounding environment.
The roof was installed using a fully mud-set clay tile system, a traditional installation method known for its strength, stability, and longevity. Each tile was carefully placed in a staggered pattern, adding depth and visual character to the roof while creating subtle shadow lines that shift throughout the day as the light changes.
Every tile was meticulously installed by our experienced team to ensure proper alignment, drainage, and a watertight seal designed to withstand the coastal conditions of La Jolla, including salty sea air and seasonal weather.
